Bernardo Aguilera, MD, PhD

Bernardo is a first-year postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. He completed an MD, followed by a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Cognitive Studies at the Universidad de Chile. Then he did his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Sheffield, UK. He has served as a physician in Chile and also joined departments of bioethics at two Chilean universities. His research focuses on issues that span the interfaces between the cognitive sciences and bioethics, in particular the cognitive capacities required for moral status and personhood. He also does research on clinical and research ethics.
