Marie Nicolini, MD, MSc
Marie Nicolini is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. She holds a medical degree (2012) and a specialist degree in psychiatry (2017) from KU Leuven, and an Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics (joint degree from KU Leuven, Radboud University Nijmegen, and University of Padova, 2014). Prior to joining the NIH, she was a visiting scholar at the Pellegrino Center for Clinical Bioethics and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics (2017-2018), Georgetown University. Her current research focuses on euthanasia and assisted suicide for psychiatric disorders, with a special focus on addressing the ethical questions about irremediability and decision-making capacity. Her other research interests include mental health law and policy.
