Ben Schwan, PhD
Ben is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. Prior to arriving at the NIH, he completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His graduate work focused on issues of agency and their implications for ethical theory. His current work explores issues of agency and their implications for ethical practice. More specifically, he's interested in when and to what extent individuals are responsible for their health and on the role of patient autonomy in medical research and clinical care.
